Vincent "Vince" Casey retired as a Superintendent of the Drug Enforcement Branch, Pacific Region, a post he held for nine years and brings a wealth of insight into drug trafficking and organized crime. Whilst his primary focus was investigating organized drug crimes at the local, national and international level, he also oversaw the undercover program (domestic and foreign), witness protection program and the drug intelligence program. Prior to coming out to the Pacific Region, he was based at National Headquarters in Ottawa where he dealt with drug enforcement policy. Illegal smuggling of drugs is still one of the most prevalent crimes all around the world. |

The photo on the right shows a federal drug investogator protecting a marijuana seizure off a boat from Asia. This particular operation netted around 40 tonnes of illegal drugs which if it had gone on to the "street" would have had a value of $20m. Given the complexities of drug trafficking and the fact that borders are crossed in the transportation of the illegal substances, teams such as those depicted in the series, are often deployed to bring down the organisations and seize the product. Vince Casey, along with his colleagues Dick Grattan, Gene Davis and Marc Greenberg will advise the writing team on such "take-downs" and also on the organized crime storyline within the first season. |
